2013 Outlook:

Last updated on Oct-08-2013 by Ben Standig

Let's state two obvious points: this is not a Week 6 recommendation and Josh Freeman stunk over his last eight or so games in Tampa. Now, let's proceed...as far as landing spots go, this isn't a bad one. Obviously there is Adrian Peterson to carry the ground game. Viable receiving threats with upside headlined by Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson and Kyle Rudolph fit into Freeman's downfield passing style. Minnesota's 30th ranked defense frequently puts the offense in shootout or catch up situations. Seeing as Freeman's one-year deal pays him more than Christian Ponder this season, he'll get into the lineup once he's looked at the playbook for more than a minute. Now, none of this means the former first round pick will start for fantasy owners soon or this year. Then again, Minnesota's future schedule includes games against the Giants, Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles (Week 15) plus several matchups that should include garbage time opportunities. Don't cut viable players, but owners in 2QB leagues should jump on him. Everyone else, start debating.

14.02 World Fantasy Rankings #4 - I knew Freeman would last because people never give him any credit. It seems strange so many people like Vjax, Like Mike Williams and love Doug Martin but nobody says anything about Freeman. How can Vjax and Williams get their numbers without Freeman throwing them the ball? Martin can take a screen pass to the house and those plays are the ones that turn a 250 yard 2 TD game into a 300 yard 3 TD game. Freeman is a great backup with starter potential.
