2014 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Last updated on Jun-26-2014 by Rob Warner

Martellus Bennett signed a four-year, $20 million contract last offseason and posted a solid 2013 season, finishing with 65 catches for 759 yards and five touchdowns. The Black Unicorn finished as the 11th-best fantasy TE and should be considered a borderline TE1 (he saw the eighth most targets among tight ends during his first season in Chicago). Bennett is a safe option, yet not necessarily blessed with big-time upside.

10.02 FFToolbox - Rob Warner - Signed a 4 year contract and should be a big factor in head coach Marc Trestman's pass happy offense. In one and only year with G-men, Bennett had 55 catches and 5 TDs and could emerge as the #2 receiving option behind B-Marsh.

10.08 FFToolbox -Scott - It's always nice to have a solid second option at Tight End because you can flex them during bye weeks and injuries. Bennett has a real opportunity in Kromer's new offense. I can see Bennett becoming a quality option for Jay Cutler this season.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3
July 9th, 2013
11.10 FootballDiehards - Bennett broke through with a career year in New York last season, catching 55 passes for 626 yards and five touchdowns. To be fair, he also tied for the NFL's 11th-worst drop percentage (7.8). With that said, Bennett gives the Bears a legitimate threat at the position for the first time since they traded away Greg Olsen in 2011. As a so-called "complete" tight end, Bennett can be on the field no matter what type of play the Bears have called. That should translate into strong fantasy totals.
