Josh McCown, QB, Bears
2013 Outlook:Last updated on Aug-13-2013 by Jeb Gorham
McCown could see some action if Cutler goes out with injury. Realistically, he will be available on waivers if that happens.
ESPN's Michael C. Wright has reported that Bears coach, Marc Trestman has named Jay Cutler the starting quarterback for their game vs. the Cleveland Browns in Week 15. "We plan on him playing, and we plan on him playing well", Trestman stated. "I expect Jay to play efficiently and play well on Sunday. That's why he's gonna be up."
In five starts since Cutler's injury, backup quarterback, Josh McCown has gone 3-2, completing 69% of his passes, and throwing 13 touchdowns to only 1 interception. Cutler was sporting a 4-4 record, with a 63% completion percentage, 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions up to that point.Fantasy Analysis:
Anyone who has ridden the McCown Train into the playoffs the past few weeks needs to jump off and start looking for another ride!!
While this is good news for anyone who has held onto Cutler, awaiting his glorious (or not so glorious) return, fantasy owners who have enjoyed the spoils of McCown's on-field success cannot be happy with this news. With a QBR of 85.7 to Cutler's 63.2, McCown had earned a spot in the hearts of Bears fans and fantasy owners alike, capping it off with a 5 TD performance in Week 14 vs. the much-hated Dallas Cowboys.
This does little to impact anyone else's value, apart from Cutler and McCown. WR's Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and RB Matt Forte are all still Top 10 plays at their positions this week vs. Cleveland. Cutler is a viable option for sure, as he's our #13 ranked QB this week.
