2012 Outlook: Gamble (high risk)

The focus of Denver's offensive camp was pace and timing. The offensive needs to work like clockwork around the actions of Peyton Manning. Manning's play calling and audible skills will only be as good as his supporting cast. I think Manning has enough weapons that this Denver team will be one to watch. Bringing Manning to town was a great move for Denver. Manning will have his freedom and the support of ownership. The call to-date will be a hybrid offense that consists of some of what Peyton used in Indy and part of the effective Denver running game that was abadonned last season. I think Manning will be good to go.

Update 8/26/12: I am beiginning to think of Manning as less of a gamble. He looked close to the Manning of old against San Francisco and the offense seems to be coming together. We will still have to wait to see the real deal when we enter Weeks 1-3, but he might be a pleasant surprise for those of us who scored him very late in drafts.

2012 Experts Mock Draft (June) June 6, 2012 - June 25, 2012	7.04	FFToday.com - Manning was the 10th QB off the board. I'll take a shot on him at that point. Matt Ryan was still on the board, the only available QB projected higher by FF Today than Peyton, but I'm luke warm on Ryan talent wise. He's got a pair of great receivers, but a new offense and his prior two seasons of improved fantasy stats came on a ton of pass attempts, which I'm not sure is sustainable with their new OC. Peyton has health issues - maybe. We won't truly know until he hits the field again and we see him play. The Broncos have the faith though, and I'll show the same faith in this once in a generation talent.
2012 Experts Mock Draft (July) July 16 - 27	8.03	CBSSports.com - As the last team to draft a QB, you're left with slim pickings in terms of starting Fantasy options. While Peyton Manning is a huge risk, he also presents amazing value at this spot if he returns to form. Taking a backup QB soon has now become a priority.
2012 Experts Mock Draft (August) Aug 14 - 24	7.07	2MugsFF.com - The hardest part here was trying to decide which QB to take since a lot of them have fallen here. I've found that Manning has ended up on a lot of my teams this year, and that I'm absolutely fine with. As most people are projecting Decker and Thomas to both have pretty big seasons, I'll take the guy who is going to be responsible for making that happen.
