2013 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)Last updated on Aug-23-2013 by Jeb Gorham
Alshon has the talent, now he needs to show it. He had a few decent outings last season, but they entailed a few receptions for big yardage. Jeffery is a deep threat and could be a great sleeper pick-up at wideout this season. The addition of Bennett at TE might help or might hinder Jeffery's workload, we will have to wait and see. Any way about it, Cutler should have targets. I like Jeffery for a breakout season this year.
Update 8/23/13 - I still like Jeffery, but it appears his targets and touches might be limited given his slide down the passing priority list. Jeffery's trouble breaking from coverage makes him a greater risk than some other targets - Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte to be specific. Jeffery can still be considered a sleeper, but might fall to the next tier on your draft list.
ESPN's Michael C. Wright has reported that Bears coach, Marc Trestman has named Jay Cutler the starting quarterback for their game vs. the Cleveland Browns in Week 15. "We plan on him playing, and we plan on him playing well", Trestman stated. "I expect Jay to play efficiently and play well on Sunday. That's why he's gonna be up."
In five starts since Cutler's injury, backup quarterback, Josh McCown has gone 3-2, completing 69% of his passes, and throwing 13 touchdowns to only 1 interception. Cutler was sporting a 4-4 record, with a 63% completion percentage, 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions up to that point.Fantasy Analysis:
Anyone who has ridden the McCown Train into the playoffs the past few weeks needs to jump off and start looking for another ride!!
While this is good news for anyone who has held onto Cutler, awaiting his glorious (or not so glorious) return, fantasy owners who have enjoyed the spoils of McCown's on-field success cannot be happy with this news. With a QBR of 85.7 to Cutler's 63.2, McCown had earned a spot in the hearts of Bears fans and fantasy owners alike, capping it off with a 5 TD performance in Week 14 vs. the much-hated Dallas Cowboys.
This does little to impact anyone else's value, apart from Cutler and McCown. WR's Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and RB Matt Forte are all still Top 10 plays at their positions this week vs. Cleveland. Cutler is a viable option for sure, as he's our #13 ranked QB this week.

|10.12||FFToolbox - Jeb Gorham - I like Jay Cutler's arm when he is accurate and healthy. Alshon Jeffery has the potential to have a breakout season this year and that is why I picked him up. There has to be another option to Marshall and Jeffery will be that target. The only drawback might be Martellus Bennett's addition - he might steal some targets and receptions.|

|10.01||KFFSC - I'm really excited to see what the Bears offense looks like this year. New coaches known for throwing the ball and his 2nd year in the league. I expect Jeffery to break out and become worth putting in my starting lineup as a flex on a weekly basis.|

|9.12||Bruno Boys - I got myself into a world of trouble by not taking my WR3 sooner so these two picks are my best attempt at cutting the losses. I took the lone remaining receiver on the board I thought was capable of putting up starter caliber numbers. With Trestman now in Chicago, it?s been emphasized that Brandon Marshall will no longer be option number one, two and three in the passing game. The ball will be spread around and Jeffery is the one most likely to benefit. It?s unclear exactly to what extent he?ll benefit but looking at Trestman?s other offenses, WR2 numbers wouldn't be unheard of for a player in his position. This was a sizable reach and my WR corps is a liability but with some luck one of my next few picks will rise to the occasion and helpout.|
