2/28 Emaddux post combine
2/18 Emaddux mock draft 2/10 round 1
1 - JAX: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Rashean Mathis and Derek Cox are free agents leaving Aaron Ross as their number 1 corner for the time being. This secondary needs some youth and a talent upgrade.
2 - NE: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
The only decent WR currently on New Englands roster right now is Brandon Lloyd and he might get cut. Tom Brady needs more weapons on the outside in order for this offense to stay great.
3 - PHI: Jonathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia
The Eagles just switched their base defense to a 3-4 and they need a NT that can clog up all the inside running lanes. Jenkins provides exactly that.
4 - DET: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
This could end up being the steal of the draft, the Lions have been waiting years for a real difference maker to take some pressure off of Megatron and they finally get it in Austin.
5 - CIN: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
Rey Maualuga and Manny Lawson are free agents, I think they at least let one of them go which opens up a spot for Minter. They also have a need at RB but with only one RB gone so far they can wait till their next pick.
6 - ARI: Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State
Recently hired Bruce Arians wants a QB that can get the ball downfield to Larry Fitzgerald and company.
7 - CLE: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Josh Gordon supplemental draft pick. Bridgewater is not actually a pick.
8 - NYJ: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
Yeremiah Bell and Laron Landry are free agents, and Elam is much better at pass protection than either of them.
9 - TEN: Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky
The Titans offensive line simply got dominated this year which made it nearly impossible for Chris Johnson to find any running room. Warford will upgrade the interior of this o-line immediately.
10 - BUF: EJ Manuel, QB, Florida State
Manuels speed and arm strength is too much to pass up on at this point of the draft, this offense can become electric with Manuel at the helm, replacing the below average Ryan Fitzpatrick.
11 - MIA: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Anthony Fasano is a free agent and he was never a starting caliber TE in the first place, this pick will give Tannehill a huge target in the red zone.
12 - TB: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
This draft completely rebuilds the Buccaneers defense and Trufant instantly becomes the best corner on this team.
13 - CAR: Eric Reid, FS, LSU
Haruki Nakamura is one of the worst safeties in footabll, Reid will start from day 1.
14 - : Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson
Bounty gate. Pick forfeited. Boyd is not actually the pick.
15 - SD: Dallas Thomas, OT, Tennessee
Both of their starting guards are free agents and were not very good last year. Thomas solidifies the left side of the o-line with Eric Fisher for the next several years.
16 - STL: Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas State
Brown is a bit undersized but brings speed to the LB position. Brown will be a nice addition to this young and improving defense.
17 - DAL: Kyle Long, OT, Oregon
Doug Free is absolutely terrible and needs to be cut. Long will be an instant upgrade and give Tony Romo all the time he needs in order to get the ball to his dominant receivers.
18 - PIT: Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
Casey Hampton is old and is a free agent. Williams is exactly what the Steelers need.
19 - NYG: Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
The Giants once had the deepest and most feared group of pass rushers in the league and that was only a short year ago. Now Osi Umeniyora is a free agent and Justin Tuck will be 30 by the time the draft rolls around. It's time to get another DE in the rotation.
20 - CHI: Barrett Jones, OG, Alabama
Lance Louis is a free agent and may not be back, and Roberto Garza is getting old and won't be around forever. You can plug Jones in at G right away and then move him to C once Garza is gone.
21 - WAS: Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
Washingtons defense was simply overmatched last year, especially so when Adam Carriker was put on IR, and now Carriker is a free agent which leaves a gaping hole at DE. Jones fills a huge need for the Redskins.
22 - MIN: Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
Percy Harvin may be traded and even if he isn't traded WR is a huge need for the VIkes.
23 - CIN: Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
BenJarvus Green-Ellis is just slow and isn't a threat to catch the ball in the backfield. Bernard brings some quickness and receiving ability to the Cincinnati backfield.
24 - MIA: Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
The Dolphins offense last year was simply non explosive, with the addition of Eifert earlier in the second round along with the speedy Wheaton and all of a sudden the Dolphins offense becomes a lot more appealing.
25 - GB: Corey Lemonier, DE, Auburn
This defense got embarrassed by Colin Kaepernick in the playoffs and an upgrade in the pass rushing department is in order. Clay Mathews is a stud at OLB but Nick Perry was injured for the majority of the year and the verdict is still out on him. Lemonier will give them much needed depth at the OLB position and a fallback option if Perry doesn't pan out.
26 - SEA: Margus Hunt, DE, Southern Methodist
Chris Clemons may miss all of next year with a torn ACL and Bruce Irvin is only a pass rushing specialist at this point in time. Hunt is one of the biggest boom or bust players in this draft and is worth the risk at this point.
27 - HOU: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
Jonathan Joseph is great and Kareem Jackson has improved tremendously since his horrendous rookie season but they don't have anyone after that and in the modern NFL you need at least three quality corners.
28 - DEN: Brandon Williams, DT, Missouri Southern State
Denver has a vacancy at NT because Justin Bannan is a free agent and is getting a little long in the tooth. Williams will be great playing next to Elvis Dumervil.
29 - NE: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia
Sebastian Vollmer is a free agent and Bill Belichick likes having depth on the offensive line even if Vollmer does re-sign.
30 - ATL: Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA
Michael Turner is no burner and is as good as gone. Jacquizz Rodgers is strictly a change of pace RB because of his lack of size. Franklin will start from day 1 and give this Falcons offense some playmaking ability in the backfield that it lacked all year long.
31 - SF: Phillip Thomas, SS, Fresno State
Thomas is a ball hawking safety this 49ers defense needs. I think they let Dashon Goldson find a new team in free agency and pick up Thomas who is a much better playmaker.
32 - BAL: Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina
Ray Lewis is gone now, and Dannell Ellerbe is a free agent and the Ravens may not be able to afford him. This defense doesn't have any other in house options currently on the roster to start at the ILB positions so this is a huge need filled.
