Author's Comments

Comments are common misconceptions.

1 - KC: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
High, KC needs QB in 1st.
4 - PHI: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Low. Top prospect.
5 - DET: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
A little high. After combine maybe closer.
6 - CLE: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
Low. Top 5 any other year. Injuries.
7 - ARI: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
High. 2nd rounder. He might move down too.
8 - BUF: Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State
High, 2nd rounder. He might move down too.
9 - NYJ: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
High. Top 15, not 10. Les Miles doesn't make you any better!
10 - TEN: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Low. Top 5 any other year. Nick Saban doesn't make you better.
11 - SD: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Low. Top 5 without Joeckel? Small schools shouldn't mean anything.
12 - MIA: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
High. People generally go to high for LTof the future. Also, big schools shouldn't make you go higher.
13 - TB: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
High. 2nd rounder. Tampa seems to like him though.
14 - CAR: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
Low. Top 10 talent. Too many pass rushers this year.
15 - NO: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Low. Top 5 talent, just not generally a top 5 position.
16 - STL: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
About right. Combine is huge for him.
17 - PIT: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
Low. GF scandal does not effect stock, but he still falls due to combine and Bowl game.
18 - DAL: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
About right. This guy has a huge range, anywhere from top 5 to 2nd round. Ohio State is not a top school. It's a phenomenal school, but in football not elite.
19 - NYG: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Low. Might end up Top 5 with Jordan. Small school hurts him.
20 - CHI: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia
About right. Somewhere between 11 and 32.
21 - CIN: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
High. 2nd rounder but a premium position so he comes up.
22 - STL: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
Extremely Low. Should be a top 5 pick lock. If he was a tackle he would be 1 lock.
23 - MIN: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
High. 2nd round prospect. Guards almost always underperform. DTs nowadays are too good for all these bad guards.
24 - IND: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
High. 2nd round prospect. Too many teams want/Need good corners.
25 - SEA: Keenan Allen, WR, California
Low. Should be a top 15 pick but he played for Cal. Increases stock by draft day.
26 - GB: Barrett Jones, OG, Alabama
High, but Center is a huge need. Versatility on OL is Good, not bad. The bad part is deciding what other positions you need.
27 - HOU: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
Low. Should've higher, but.. QB can make WRs better. Or worse. But people generally over think this, and WRs can perform without a star QB. See Calvin Pre Stafford, Bowe, etc.
28 - DEN: Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
High. Big school bonus again. DTs also seem to be reached for because of bad guards, they produce.
29 - NE: Margus Hunt, DE, Southern Methodist
About right. Small school keeps him at about 2nd round grade, but any team would love this guys talent.
30 - ATL: Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
High. Teams love to reach for TEs. Tight Ends are finally getting the credit they deserve as Receivers (Thank Graham, etc), but can block too!
31 - BAL: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
Exact. Perfect value for this pick. Fills a need. Shows end of 1st round talent.
32 - SF: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
High. They need to replace Dashon Goldson so badly, they reach for Elam who actually performed alright for an end of 1st, but Safety's are undervalued.

Above Average -- ARI, MIA, MIN don'tsound right ... Trying too predicttoo much but with very good reasons/comments

Poor -- Act like an expert but Banks over trufant??? Bengals reaching for a Slow RB??
Wednesday, January 30, 2013 3:59 AM
Average -- Banks over Trufant because Banks will outperform him at combine and if Dee doesn't fall to them there are rumors swirling they love him. Bengals need RB so bad I think they would reach for Lacy. I'm not a believer in Bernard, and what other RB in 1st?
Saturday, February 2, 2013 7:33 AM
Poor -- I'm a Bucs fan and have heard nothing of them loving Banks. I've heard at 13 they will target a pass rusher or possibly te.
Tuesday, February 12, 2013 9:48 PM
Excellent -- No TE is worth a top 20 pick. Pass rushers mostly gone. Bucs need CB so bad, I heard the same thing about Banks, that is If Milliner is gone. Nice mock, and those are good misconceptions.
