2/8 My Top Lions Draft Choices
Author's Comments
Geno is not in my mock for a reason. He is not good enough to go Top 2, No teams other than Buffalo and AZ need QBs or they have more glaring holes, or they are BPA. I have Geno in my 2nd Rd. Mock to KC. There will be trades, there will be reaches, but based on needs and my value ONLY, this is my mock draft. More comments coming Eventually for Short. Thanks for reading and please leave Helpful comments! As I say in pick 5: Post a link to your mock if you don't have Moore going 5 to Lions, if I have not done so already, I will give you a 4 or 5.
1 - KC: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Best player on the board, an OT that is a solid producer that can help the chiefs day 1. He will help the new QB they decide to get immediately, with a low bust rate. I believe this guy is Jake Long 2.0

2 - JAX: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
This guy is a beast, and for the 1st time in NFL history 2 players from Texas A&M go 1-2. He led the NCAA in sacks, and he also led his team in tackles. He's also had at least one INT, FF, BLK PNT/FG, etc. he also along with Joeckel played on the only team that beat the Crimson Tide.

3 - OAK: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Let's get right to the numbers on this talent folks. 4 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, 5 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 11 tackles for a loss and 44 tackles. Playing DT for Utah. He almost constantly was getting double or triple teamed as well, and has a speed power combination like very few. He doesn't need that much coaching but he should be more consistent if he wants to play up to his HOF potential.

4 - PHI: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Werner is an elite talent with great production against most college OTs. The main reason why I have him lower than Moore is because he is not as versatile, as he is a strict DE. Philly needs some help opposite Trent Cole, and this is their best bet.

5 - DET: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
The Lions have a very large amount of options. Sticking with their strict BPA strategy, Jarvis Jones is the way to go. He has the most raw talent I believe in this class and will play the same role Von Miller (who they passed on) plays in Denver now. Anyone who does NOT have Moore her, send a link to your mock and if I haven't done it already I will give u a 4 or 5. As for other options, Manti Teo could come back up here after combine press day, Werner is a solid option as well to list a few.

6 - CLE: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Ansah has an unbelievable potential level, and some serious talent. Had he played on a Bigname school, he would be an easy top 5 pick. He has elite measurables, and he has the ability to have a great 10 Yd, 20 Yd and 40 time. Draft day, he might even go to Oakland.

7 - ARI: Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State
AZ needs a QB and we all know it. I would be shocked if they decide not to go QB especially after the Whisenhunt firing. Glennon had a stellar Senior year, shooting him up draft boards to a possible Top 10 pick. Glennon will probably have a decent combine as well, and he will go to Arizona at 7.

8 - BUF: Matt Barkley, QB, USC
As like the team before them Arizona, Buffalo needs a new QB to run a new Offence. I believe Barkley gives more security to the position than Geno does, which is why I have him going here. Barkley is coming from a big name school in USC, but the weather adjustment is something to look out for. He may struggle a little bit, especially his 1st year with the lack of Reciever talent, but he will have a good career in a Buffalo Bills uniform.

9 - NYJ: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
The Jets have a lot of big needs, and pass rusher top that list. Dion Jordan is a great prospect from a pro style school, who's success in college should translate very well into the pros. Top 10 might seem a little high, but he'll be worth it 3 years from now.

10 - TEN: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Tenessee has glaring holes all over their depth chart. One noticeable one is CB. Dee Milliner who I also believe is the BPA at this point would be a good solid selection for the Titans

11 - SD: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
San Diego needs pass protection help. Desperately. Also run blocking help inside for Matthews would be nice which is why I have them taking interior line.

12 - MIA: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Jake Long may be leaving Miami this free agent period. They will need an immediate replacement for him on that line, and they go with another product from the State of Michigan, this time from CMU. This kid has had a great college career and he should go higher than this, but this will be a good fit for him in Miami.

13 - TB: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Tampa Bay needs help all over their secondary, especially at corner. They might end up even trading up to 4 on Draft day for Milliner they are in desperate need of a corner. Banks will help their severely horrific crew.

14 - CAR: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
Carolina gets the DT from OSU we all know they want. Their offence is already productive with Cam Newton, so now they need to work on the defensive side of the ball. This pick improves the pass rush, and could be a defensive leader for years to come.

15 - NO: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
LSU product to none other than New Orleans. Montgomery is a good DE and he will make a big impact for New Orleans. This kid has an amazing ability to stop the run and the pass, and he has had a solid consistant performance all year. New Orleans has serious problems at DE and he will step in and improve their defence.

16 - STL: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
Rams address LB need with their 1st of 2 picks in this draft, taking a LB to play behind Long. Mingo is an LSU product from Les Miles Defences who generally produces good pro talent. Montgomery will have solid production especially playing in St. Louis, and he could produce as good as he did at LSU.

17 - PIT: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
Manti Te'o lost a lot of stock after the fake girlfriend scandal and the poor national championship game. He should be a top 5 pick, but i believe he will fall to a magnifecent team in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mike Tomlin, who generally draft BPA. He cleared a lot up with the Katie Couric interview that just took place, but there are still a few questions he will have to answer on Combine Press day. Until then, he is out of my top 10 although he might go as high as 5 again after this is done.

18 - DAL: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Dallas goes with a Texas product for their secondary that already includes Morris Claiborne. He has had a good enough career to be considered a 1st round safety. He will step in and work with Morris Claiborne and Dallas's secondary and clutch secondary will imediately improve.

19 - NYG: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
Giants take a Defensive Tackle to slot next their pass rusher extraordinaire Jason Pierre-Paul. Richardson is also like JPP an underrated beast. This kid has lots of pro potential and will with good coaching become an annual pro bowler.

20 - CHI: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Chicago can always use more OL help, they are in the same decision as GB, Det, Minny. Not including I, am not a Cutler fan and think hes injury prone, An Alabama OL man will help them. They move Carimi over to Left to fit Fluker in at the Right.

21 - CIN: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia
A Linebacker from the good ol college of Georgia, he helped lift them to a stellar season. He has a lot of raw talent, and doesn't need that much coaching. He might end up going in the Top 5 depending on how good his combine is. His only downside is that he lacks the ability to cover every zone on the field, and that he will need to learn the play book so he won't produce immediately like most expect him to.

22 - STL: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Saint Louis with their 1st pick addresses DL with Montgomery. now, they gotta take it to the other side of the line, OL, and do some upgrading at guard. Cooper had a great year for UNC and he was a 1st team ACC all American and a 1st team National All American. He was graded out at 90% mostly due to his key role in run blocking, in which the average Yards/Game total was 193.8! Blocking for someone like Steven Jackson and Sam Bradford would definitely help them achieve more wins.

23 - MIN: Keenan Allen, WR, California
A good wide out from a great school, especially known for their speed, brings a good wide receiver of 1st round caliber into this years draft named Keenan Allen. Alongside Percy Harvin, he and Ponder can develop a nice long term connection and with the help of AP build Minnys Offence into a dangerous one for years to come.

24 - IND: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
25 - SEA: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
In my opinion, a hidden 1st round gem, especially given Russel Wilson's ability, Williams will be of great assistance to the young QB. They will have great Chemistry most likely from day 1 and they will have a solid passing game for the first time since the days of Matt Hasselbecks prime

26 - GB: Barrett Jones, OG, Alabama
Green Bay needs help all over their OL so they draft Jones, a utility OL from Bama. He had a great National Championship game, and for that matter a solid season, and with security on an Offensive line with help from a good QB, this kid has the talent to become a hall of famer one day.

27 - HOU: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
One of the 2 big name wide Recievers from Tennessee this draft class, he will be playing opposite a future HOF receiver in Andre Johnson. Despite Matt Schaub being the QB, the Houston Texans have a stellar running game and a great D that can lead them to the Super Bowl if they improve their passing and return games. This kid will help with both, and I think he will help push the Texans over the top next year.

28 - DEN: Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
Denver has a very well rounded team. They have a solid back 7 led by Von Miller and Champ Bailey, and they also have a good Offence lead by Peyton, Thomas and Moreno. Now, if they can get to the QB they might be able to make it a little farther next year. Anyone thats on Bamas D can be trusted to get the job done.

29 - BAL: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
With Ray Lewis's last game being either this week or the super bowl, they need to get a replacement for him somehow so they don't have a gaping hole in the middle of their D. Minter is one of the many LSU 1st round lb corps in this years draft, and going to a system where he would be surrounded by talent like he was in college will help his move to the NFL. With good coaching from Harbaugh, he could be this teams next best thing.

30 - SF: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
With Goldson most likely leaving through FA, there is a strong chance they take the top Safety still left in the draft in this years strong safety class, being Matt Elam from Florida. This kid has the talent to intercept a couple passes on his own, make some key tackles and help the secondary in playcall. He will be a strong anchor in the back of that San Fran D for a Long time, also, he has an extremely talented coaching staff to guide him on his way in the pros.,

31 - NE: Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
Tom Brady doesn't have that many wide Recievers. Other than Aaron Hernandez, the almost always injures Gronkowski and Wes Welker, good luck naming another New England wide receiver without looking it up. Justin Hunter with Wes and Hernandez would provide a solid core of receivers for not only the rest of Brady's career, but the start of the new quarterbacks.

32 - ATL: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Tony Gonzalez plays a huge role in the Atlanta Offence currently. If he retires, the Falcons will either have to heavily rely on Julio and Roddy, and or draft another TE to replace him. I say both. Matt Ryan needs as mny targets as he can get, and as far as I'm concerned there are no immediate areas of concern for the falcons that they can afford to use a 1st rounder on a Tight End. Especially when it is Tyler Eifert from an almost undefeated Notre Dame team.

Poor -- I can't fathom Chip Kelly passing on Geno Smith if he is still available at 4. Why would AZ draft a guy they could possibly get in the 2nd round when they could take Fisher or Warmack there and shore up their horrible offensive line? No good man.

Poor -- No Geno=no credibility. He is regarded by many scouts as the top QB, yet you put Glennon (raw) and Barkley (bad senior year+injury) ahead of him. Fail. I trust a pro more than u. You don't even have the draft order right. Do u live in a cave?

Excellent -- GENO SMITH DOES NOT DESERVE A 1st round pick. 2 years from now you guys will see. He's the next big bang bust. Glennon is hot at the right time, Teams will ignore barkleys injury and his senior year is 1 year. He was great before that. Combine is > Games.
