2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Brian Schwenke, C, California

Cal Golden Bears center Brian Schwenke is one of the top prospects at his position due to his intangibles, short area quickness and tough style of play.

Schwenke has jumped up the draft board in recent weeks. Prototypical size with good height and bulk. Not overtly athletic. Shows good foot speed and can attack second level defenders with ease. Adequate arm length, big hands. No durability concerns and has excellent intangibles on the field. Great awareness for the play and seems to have a feel for where he needs to be at all times. Uses leverage to his advantage. Average strength in lower body. Needs to keep his feet moving while engaged. Stays low off the snap. Very instinctive run blocker.

Plays with a nice chip on his shoulder. Excellent effort and second-effort. Plays to the whistle. Reaction time can be a beat late on blitzes. Can also play guard part-time, has limited experience at that position.

Schwenke projects as a late-second to third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
