Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame

UPDATE: Louis Nix has opted to play out his remaining eligibility and will return to Notre Dame for his senior season.

Nix is a huge defensive tackle prospect with a thick, compact frame. He projects as a 3-4 NT or three-technique 4-3 DT. Lost weight at different points of his career to improve cardio and try to become an every-down player. Good motor when on the field, considering his size and girth. Gets off the line well and bends knees to get leverage. Not great with his hands and will need to learn to not just push and lean on blockers.

Rarely gives up ground and could afford to trim up his midsection and add more muscle to his lower body. He does not have much of a pass-rush arsenal, relies on a spin move too often. Double teams are an issue as he will lose focus on the play and not see where the play is developing. Diagnosing plays is an issue. An aggressive style will sometimes take him out of the play and lacks the athleticism to make quick adjustments.

Nix will return to Notre Dame to play his senior season.
