2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas

The middle round prospect excels at anchoring down when in pass protection and having enough strength to move defenders when run blocking. Swanson isn't the top center in this draft class, but he isn't that far off.

Limited lateral quickness. Best when he can snap forward and take on a defender one-on-one. Very good ability to make the correct line calls. Finishes plays hard. Gets under his opponent's skin and plays at a relentless pace. Makes good adjustments against twists and stunts. Adequate athleticism when asked to pull. Average jump at the snap. Sometimes will jump after snap flat-footed. Must learn to keep feet more active.

Below-average knee bend. Must remember to stay under his opponents and better use leverage. Too often speed by fast defenders and will get beat by quick double moves. Average hands and doesn't keep them active when getting beat. Gets after guys at the second level when he can get his hands on them. Below average movement skills to stay with defenders beyond the line. Looks to take guys to the ground.

Swanson projects as a fourth round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
