2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon
Barner has very good speed and can hit a second-gear to break away from defenders. If he finds the edge of the defense, he can turn it upfield for serious gains. Makes defenders miss in the open field with jukes and head movement. Lacks power and has a thin core and lower body. Doesn't break tackles often. Relies heavily on staying elusive and an athleticism that really pops on tape.
Should have no problems as a receiver out of the backfield. Runs clean routes and can pluck the ball around his frame. Quickly transitions to gain yards after the catch. Ineffective in short-yardage and must learn to churn legs in a pile. Accelerates very well and can explode when given a clear running lane. Durability isn't a major concern, but missed a few games throughout career. Below-average patience to follow blockers.
Barner projects as a fourth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
