2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
Also goes by the nickname "Nuk" (sounds like "nuke"). A good route runner who loves to make plays once the ball is in his hands. Snatches the ball out of the air. Gets upfield in a hurry and is not afraid to sacrifice his body to move the ball forward. Has adequate height and is in good shape. Worked a lot of short passes at Clemson (screens and hitches). Not a polished route runner and wastes a lot of motion in making his cuts. Does have a nice explosion off the line.
Flashes big play potential. YAC monster. Locates the ball relatively well. Decent downfield blocker, very willing to mix it up. Shows good concentration on goal-line fade and can secure the ball away from his body. Seems to step up against big-time opponents. Above-average speed and accelerates well to create separation. Will need to add more muscle. Very lean through the middle. Not a natural hands catcher.
Had a red flag issue occur at the NFL Scouting Combine. Reports indicated that Hopkins and Rutgers WR Mark Harrison trashed a hotel room and left it in serious disarray. This problem could negatively impact his draft stock.
Hopkins projects as a second round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

I am a huge FSU fan and Hopkins killed us. I am not a huge proponent of individual skills testing but rather use the eye test to evaluate talent. Hopkins will be a star in the NFL. I hope the Rams draft him and montee ball. I would be ecstatic.

well by him trashing a motel room is already show he immature, that could be a problem, but i see him as a top 30 pick if he puts it all 2gether, good hands, not fast but he could fall 2 the third round, but a safe pick in 2 round.

He is a 1st round talent. I project he goes to Pittsburgh in the 2nd round. Clemson will miss his determination and big play ability. He read defenses well and sets up corners towards his strengths: Speed,Jumping ability,Great hands and toughness. His blocking is phenominal and he doesnt take off plays. In the win against LSU Andre Ellington ran 3 sweeps to his side for 36 yards. His 4th-16 catch in the Chick-fila bowl VS LSU set the tone for the Tigers to end the season enthusiastically. Clemson should rank in the Top #10 this Season. With the anticipation of Clemson Vs Georgia, the 1st game of the season in Clemson, "Nuk" will be sorely missed! Good Luck in the NFL my Alumni buddy!
