2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Kiko Alanso, ILB, Oregon

Oregon Ducks linebacker Kiko Alonso could either play inside or outside depending upon the team and defensive scheme. He is a well-built prospect with above-average athleticism that emerged late in his collegiate career.

Alonso shows natural instincts against the run and can close on the football quickly. At his best when he can run downhill, occupy a gap and pursue a ball-carrier in the hole. Wraps up well at the point of contact and can hit hard without sacrificing his balance. Can shed blockers on occasion and extends his arms well to not get swallowed up in the crowd. Had a couple of small injuries in his career and will likely need to play through these scrapes more often due to his aggressive style of play. Skipped the Senior Bowl in order to allow a wrist injury to heal. Charged with a DUI in 2010.

Showed good anticipation when in zone coverage and flowed naturally with the quarterback's eyes when peeking in the backfield. Versatile defender who lined up in a couple different spots on the field. Limited experience as a blitzer. Can also hold his own in man coverage and his noticeable athleticism gives him a good foundation to build upon.

Alonso projects as a second round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
