2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA
Fauria has NFL roots, his uncle Christian played for 13 seasons in the NFL. He is very tall (6'7") and is a very difficult matchup for linebackers to cover. Will offer his quarterback a nice big target over the middle. Lacks a burst off the line, yet he can shed contact easily to make his way upfield. Good vertical and made a crazy highlight against Stanford by hurdling a defender on his way to the end zone.
Doesn't play with much passion and is a lackadaisical blocker. Relatively thin through his midsection leads to him being pushed around, especially by bigger, stronger defenders. Doesn't offer much of a push. Does a better job when moving up to the second level for open field blocks.
Fauria has average speed and takes a few strides to get moving. Decent hands. Can catch the ball well away from his body, but allows the ball to hit him in the chest at times. Should be a great red zone player.
He projects as a sixth round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.
