2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
James Brown, OT, Troy
Troy Trojans offensive tackle James Brown projects as an interior lineman at the next level. Although he put together a fine career as a left tackle, most scouts feel he is more adept to start at guard while possibly providing depth at right tackle. He possesses good, but not great arm length to go along with a thick frame.
Brown plays up to his competition and plays tough. His burst off the line is clean, yet he shows an inconsistent patience to absorb contact. What this means is he gets his body out in front of his feet, which can throw of his balance and take him out of plays. Technically, he works his hips well when engaged by defenders. Brown's footwork is satisfactory, but not reliable enough for the NFL.
It is likely he'll have to sit his first year to learn the details of how to play as a guard. He's a better run blocker than pass blocker. There's still room for improvement since he does not yet fully understood the position. Brown lacks athleticism and didn't show much at the combine. His versatility is what is carrying his draft stock.

He's been moving up, I've seen him as high as 50 on a few big boards.
