2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Tauren Poole, RB, Tennessee
Poole is ready to take his talents to the next level after spending four years at Tennessee. As a freshman and sophomore he mostly contributed on special teams, while getting a total of 32 carries at running back during those two seasons. In 2010, Poole enjoyed an absolute breakout. He rushed 204 times for 1034 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Volunteers were miserable all across the board in 2011 (including a 1-7 SEC record) and Poole suffered as a senior. He carried 187 times for 693 yards and five scores--decent numbers, but a major step back from his junior campaign.
The Toccoa, GA native stands at 5'10'' and 215 pounds. He is on the smaller size for a running back, but he is strong and tough to bring down on initial impact. Poole generally runs in the 4.5s in the 40-yard dash and he has been clocked as fast as 4.44 from that distance. He does almost everything well, but does not really stand out in any category (good but not elite speed, good but not elite strength). He could be effective as a third-down back in the NFL and he can catch passes out of the backfield (a total of 43 receptions in his last two seasons at Tennessee). Poole should go off the board sometime around the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
