2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Josh Chapman, DT, Alabama

The linebackers and defensive backs get most of the publicity on Alabama's dominant defense, but Chapman has been the anchor of a stellar line this year. He started 11 games at nose tackle during the regular season, compiling 22 tackles (3.5 for loss) and one sack. Chapman has a ton of experience, having been redshirted in 2007 before playing a total of 26 games as a freshman and sophomore. He has been a full-time starter ever since, with 31 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in 2010.

Chapman has decent size at 6'1'' and 310 pounds. He has been clocked as fast as 4.92 in the 40-yard dash, something to write home about for his position. The Hoover, AL native has a strong first step and can overpower opposing centers, but he does not have any real rushing moves and he is not tall enough to bat down many passes. Chapman has to play nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme and is not overly versatile, but he could flourish in the right system. Look for him to be selected in round two of the 2012 NFL Draft.
