Mark Ingram Scouting Report

Ingram was an absolute beast for Alabama ever since arriving on campus in 2008. He rushed 143 times for 728 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman before erupting as a sophomore. In his 2009 Heisman Trophy campaign he carried 271 times for 1658 yards and 17 scores, while also catching 32 passes for 334 yards and three more touchdowns. Ingram also led Alabama to the BCS National Championship. Last season was not quite as productive, in part because Ingram was coming off arthroscopic knee surgery. Still, he gained 875 yards on 158 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.

At times dominant in the college game, Ingram also projects well to the next level. He is a load to bring down at 5'10' and 215 pounds. His speed for that kind of frame is impressive, as he has been clocked as fast as 4.42 in the 40-yard dash. Ingram has decent hands for catching passes out of the backfield, although he should improve both his catching and his speed if he wants to have the same kind of success on Sundays. Block and getting to the outside edge are areas on which he will work.

The knee injury is no longer a real concern and Ingram looks like the best running back available in a relatively weak RB class. His superb version and ability to run between the tackles will serve him well at the next level...and on draft day. Ingram will likely be selected in the middle of the first round.
