2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Matt Bosher, K, Miami
A year earlier Bosher was pretty much doing the same thing he did in 2009. He converted 18 of his 20 field goal attempts and was 40 for 40 on PAT's. He was also the conference's second best punter with an average of 40.3 yards per punt. Even as a redshirt freshman back in 2007, Bosher was the team's punter in all 12 games and took over kickoff duties by the end of the season. Bosher's punting average has improved every year and that may be where he ends up playing at the next level.
A year ago Bosher seemed certain to be a kicker in the NFL, but he has missed three PAT's through nine games thus far during the 2010 campaign and has only connected on nine of his 12 field goal attempts. Despite his punting average boasting over 45 yards per kick, Bosher has been criticized for dropping too many into the end zone and failing to have the touch needed to punt at the next level. Bosher is a good, versatile kicker, but he needs to finish the 2010 season strong to get drafted, but he should get a shot in the NFL whether or not he gets drafted.
