2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Zane Taylor, C, Utah
Zane Taylor may not be the most athletic or talented center around, but he is a very smart and experienced player. While others will put up better numbers at the NFL Combine, Taylor's intelligence and ability to run the offense from the center position will get him drafted. On a Utah team that has played some musical chairs at quarterback for the last couple of years, Taylor has held the offense together. Not only has the line held the offense together, but Utah was very successful in 2009 and doing even better eight games into the 2010 campaign.
Taylor is a three year starter at center and has played some guard as well. In 2008 he was an honorable mention All-MWC honoree and he followed that up with second-team accolades in 2009. Despite missing a game with a knee injury early in the year, Taylor should be the frontrunner for first-team honors during his senior campaign.
Taylor lacks the physical attributes to be a top center in this class. If anything, his workouts will likely drop his stock a little more. However, Taylor is the type of player who can impress scouts in game situations and he will have plenty of opportunities to boost his stock during senior week.
