2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Kai Forbath, K, UCLA
Forbath did not get as many opportunities as a sophomore, but he still made 19 out of his 22 attempts and 21 of his 22 PATs. It was in 2009 when Forbath hit the national stage…at least as much as a kicker can. He connected on 28 of 31 field goal attempts with his only three misses coming from over 50 yards. For his efforts, Forbath took home the Lou Groza Award and made just about everybody's All-America team.
Forbath was a model of consistency, but his senior season has not gone as planned. While in 2009 Forbath was automatic from anything under 50 yards, in 2010 he has missed five field goal attempts between 40 and 49 yards. In fact, he has connected on just 13 field goals through the regular season. Once a lock as the best kicker in this class, Forbath suddenly is falling. He should still be one of the first three or four kickers drafted, but nobody is going to reach and take him before the seventh round anymore.
