2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Charles Brown, CB, North Carolina
This was nothing new for Brown, who is heading to the next level with a ton of experience. He tallied 59 tackles, two interceptions, and four pass breakups as a part-time starter at the cornerback and nickel-back spots as a freshman. As a sophomore he was relegated to the nickel-back position and only played in 10 games. His tackle total decreased to 26. By his junior campaign in 2009, Brown was a full-time starting corner. As a result he tallied 66 tackles (three for loss), three interceptions, nine pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
The Cleveland, OH native has always been an underrated player, but he did well to overcome that stigma in 2011. Still, Brown has been labeled as an inconsistent performer. He needs to have some good workouts to move up the draft board and he could wow some people with his speed (so far he has been clocked as fast as a blistering 4.40 in the 40-yard dash) at the combine. Brown could be off the board as early as the fourth round in the 2012 NFL Draft.
