2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, WR, Iowa
DJK is a smooth runner with adequate hands that can make plays after the catch. He also returns kicks and excels with the ball in his hands. He's always looking to fight for extra yards and has no problem taking on defenders after the catch.
Route-running is a weakness as he looks rushed and sometimes does not make each break at the appropriate time. DJK tends to secure the catch with his body but that being said, when elevated, he does a great job securing the ball with his hands. He does a great job in tight quarters to make very difficult catches. He's got average leaping ability but on "50-50" balls, he displays a knack for really getting after the ball and his "want-to" in those difficult situations is immeasurable.
DJK needs to continue to refine the fundamentals of the position, but he has the talent to play at the next level. He currently projects as an undrafted free agent for the 2011 NFL Draft.
