2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale

At little Hillsdale College in Michigan it is not surprising that Jared Veldheer has spent his collegiate career under the radar. However, the 6-8, 312 pound offensive tackle has been dominating every opponent he has faced. Veldheer was obviously a productive player in college and has a myriad of accolades and awards to show for it. He started all 36 games he played in for the Chargers and very rarely had a bad day. However, the GLIAC is not the Big Ten and many scouts were apprehensive about Veldheer's pro potential. That all started to change during the Texas versus The Nation game in early February. Veldheer had a solid showing and for many NFL teams it was their first real look at the Grand Rapids, Michigan native. That is when Veldheer's name started to be mentioned as a possible fourth round draft pick. But it was at the NFL Combine where Veldheer blew away most of the competition. Veldheer ran one of the quickest 40's at the combine among offensive linemen and proved to be strong and surprisingly mobile and athletic for a player of his size. He did very well in all the drills and only Bruce Campbell had a better overall day. The success at the combine has moved Veldheer's stock up and he should be off the board in the second or third round.
