2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Brian Jackson, CB, Oklahoma

Any cornerback who can survive the passing attack of the Big 12 deserves to at least be in the discussion as far as the NFL is concerned. Brian Jackson has certainly paid his dues at Oklahoma and eventually turned into a solid cornerback for the Sooners. Jackson spent his freshman and sophomore campaigns without earning a start and only totaling 18 total tackles in two seasons. That all changed when he stepped into the starting lineup in 2008. Jackson was very productive and ended up recording 72 tackles, picking off two passes and recovering three fumbles. With the emergence of fellow corner Dominique Franks, Jackson was thrown at quite a bit during the regular season in 2009, and he responded by intercepting a team high four passes and breaking up eight passes. He also forced a fumble and returned a fumble for 52 yards. However, his tackle numbers slipped to a mere 47 and he has some work to do to prove to scouts that he is worthy of a pick. At 6-1 and 200 pounds, Jackson is a little bigger than his teammate Franks, but he is not as fast and NFL scouts seem to prefer Franks over Jackson. That leaves Franks as a fringe mid-round selection unless he has a great Senior Week.
