Darryl Richard, DT, Georgia Tech

Darryl Richard wrapped up his career at Georgia Tech with 32 total tackles-for-loss and 12.5 sacks. Those are not eye-popping numbers, but they do not tell the whole story either. The Yellow Jackets' defensive line was dominating during the 2008 season and that led to the team's success. Richard was a big part of that success and he was rewarded with second-team All-ACC honors. At 6-4, Richard has good size for an interior lineman in the NFL. However, his weight is listed at just 290 pounds. Being light and quick on your feet was important on the Georgia Tech defense, but it will not cut it in the NFL. His former defensive tackle teammate Vance Walker has the same problem. So like Walker, Richard will need to prove that he can put on more weight before he can be effective in the NFL. The good news for Richard is that he has plenty of room to add weight. Many teams in the NFL need some depth at defensive tackle and that can do nothing but help Richard's draft position. However, his lack of size and strength will likely keep him out of the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. With a decent showing at the combine, Richard could end up being a hot commodity by the time the draft rolls around.
