2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
Josh Freeman has a strong arm and looks like a quarterback, there is no doubt about that. At 6-6 and 250 pounds there is good reason for scouts to drool a little bit. Freeman, who is entering the draft after his junior year, was a three-year starter at Kansas State who owns his fair share of school records. During his final season in Manhattan he tallied 2,945 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions. However, those numbers can be a little deceiving. Eight of those 20 touchdown passes came in three early season games against North Texas, Montana State and Louisiana-Lafayette. That is not exactly tough competition. That leaves Freeman with 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions in the nine other games. His inconsistency is a huge concern and if he could not win in college, many think he cannot win the NFL, no matter how much he looks the part. Freeman should fit into that traditional second round group of quarterbacks that are high on potential. But things are a little different this year since the quarterback class is so light. That means somebody might take a chance on him late in the first round if Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez are off the board. 4/16 Update: The further away we get from Freeman actually playing meaningful games, the more his stock rises. On the practice field he looks like a great quarterback and he will probably be gone by the 20th pick in the draft. However, more teams should be scared of his lack of quality production during his collegiate career. But in a year with so few quality quarterbacks, somebody will take him earlier than they should.

i think hes good enough for first round but after detroit (#20) who needs a qb in the first round? i have the lions taking stafford first so that means it ends at the bucs who are a HUGE possibility to take him. it all depends on where sanchez falls to.
