2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Michael Jones, WR, Arizona State

Michael Jones is a tall, versatile target who has improved steadily during his Sun Devil career. Jones is a tremendous athlete with excellent speed and great leaping ability. To give you an idea of how good of an athlete he is, Jones has started for the last three baseball seasons for the Sun Devil's and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft. In four games played by the Sun Devil's in 2008, Jones has 21 receptions for 326 yards and a touchdown. He has been a consistent target for quarterback Rudy Carpenter, and his combination of size and speed will have NFL teams drooling. Jones reportedly runs a sub 4.5 forty yard dash; if he can put up those numbers at this year's NFL combine, he can expect to be drafted on the first day. He may be a bit of a project, but reportedly would rather play professional football rather than professional baseball. Jones will be a bit of a developmental player at the beginning of his career, but he has the athletic ability to develop into a very special player.
