2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Brandon Gibson, WR, Washington State

Gibson is one of the lone bright spots on a dismal Cougars team. He lead the Pac-10 with 67 receptions for 1,180 yards in 2007, and averaged 17.6 yards per catch in 2007. In 2007 he seemed to have very good hands. He has struggled in 2008 and seems to be trying to do too much on a terrible Washington State team. His draft stock is likely going to take a hit because he will not be able to produce in 2008 like he did in 2007 as he will be receiving passes from the third team freshman quarterback. The only thing that may help him is that his team will be behind in most games and will try to pass to catch up. In four games in 2008, he has 295 yards on twenty receptions with 2 touchdowns. Gibson will likely need to have a great showing at the 2009 NFL combine to make it into the first two rounds because his numbers will suffer so much this year. He had a big game against Oregon with 10 receptions for 103 yards. Gibson has good speed and great quickness. He is excellent in running after he catches the ball and turning a short pass into a big gain by avoiding tackles with his agility.
