2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Demarcus Lawrence, DE , Boise State

This highly productive player is a high ceiling prospect blessed with excellent athleticism and great frame to build upon. Lawrence was a two-time All-Mountain West selection. Suspended three times for violating team rules.

Lawrence could fit in a couple roles depending upon team need. Has enough athleticism to develop into a 3-4 OLB or bulk up into a LDE in a 4-3. Very fast laterally. Great length. Long arms and big hands. Great arm violence when accelerating. Great first step and anticipation. Finishes strong at the point of attack. Solid tackler in space and will occasionally get over-aggressive by lowering eyes and leaving his feet.

Almost no experience dropping back into coverage. Will need time if added to a 3-4 defense as an OLB. Not strong to really anchor the edge. Athletic enough to learn just about any technique needed on the field. Could sneak into the first round as a project player for one team that really likes his skill set and potential.

Lawrence projects as an early second rounder in the 2014 NFL Draft.
