2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Terrell Thomas, CB, USC

Thomas is a big, fast, physical cornerback. He is a complete corner and plays well in both man and zone coverage. He has been clocked unofficially in the high 4.4s in the forty yard dash. He is a very complete player and is effective against both the pass and run. Thomas has had injuries throughout his career, which will scare some teams off. He has dislocated both shoulders due to his physical style of play. Terrell was thought to be a first round prospect prior to the year, but with his history of injuries and is yet another one this year who will likely fall into the late first to early second round range (unless he absolutely blows scouts away with his offseason workouts). Thomas has had a disappointing season finishing with 4 interceptions, but this is likely due to teams throwing away from him. Thomas will add value to his draft status because of his ability to play both safety positions as well as corner, but will slide due to his injury history. Thomas has performed well during Senior Bowl practice this week, but has proven that at the next level he will be best suited in a zone-heavy scheme. Thomas ran well at the combine (running a 4.49 forty yard dash), but he still lacks the quick hip turn that teams covet in cover-cornerbacks. He struggled in position drills and lacked great fluidity in position drills. Thomas' draft stock has tumbled all year. He will likely be taken early on the second day.
