2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Lee Ziemba, OT, Auburn

Ziemba is only a junior, but he clearly has the experience to make the jump to the next level. The offensive tackle has started every game for Auburn since arriving on campus in 2007. He was promptly named to the All-SEC Freshman Team by both the coaches and the media, and he enjoyed another stellar campaign as a sophomore that earned him Preseason All-SEC honors heading into 2009. It also did not hurt that Ziemba put on 35 pounds in between his sophomore and junior seasons. A mammoth lineman, Ziemba stands in at 6'8'' and 308 pounds. He is also relatively nimble for his size, running between 5.1 and 5.2 in the 40-yard-dash. He is a better run-blocker than pass-blocker at the moment, but he can excel in both areas.

For now, the Tigers have been reaping the benefits of his run-blocking skills. Through nine games of the 2009 season, all three of Auburn's top running backs were averaging well over five yards per carry. Ben Tate had 1067 yards on 193 rushes, while Onterio McCalebb had racked up 464 rushing yards on just 83 attempts. Auburn started out the season 5-0 but later fell to 6-3, so there is a chance Ziemba could return to school for some unfinished business in hopes of going out on a higher note. He also needs to improve at firing off the ball and staying low. He has to become more effective at pass protection if he wants to be a left tackle in the NFL. If Ziemba does decide to forgo his senior year, look for him to go off he board in round three of the 2010 draft.
