2014 NFL Mock Draft

Round 1 of 2 Rounds

1. HOU: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina*
Clowney's superior potential, even if concerns about his work ethic are true, sets him apart as this draft's most elite prospect. A quarterback should be available around pick No. 20 and the Texans could trade up then if necessary.
2. STL: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn*
The Rams' inability to protect Sam Bradford trumps any other need. All the playmakers in the world can't help you if your QB is on his back.
3. JAX: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida*
Bortles is the hot QB of the moment and he doesn't have to stray too far from home with the Jaguars.
4. CLE: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M*
Reports continue to circulate that the Browns really like Manziel. It makes perfect sense since he has the biggest bust potential of any first round player.
5. OAK: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson*
Oakland has a solid Top 3 wide receivers (James Jones, Rod Streater and Denarius Moore); however, none of these guys has the ability to be the game's best receiver. Watkins could be that good in a couple years.
6. ATL: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
The Falcons pass rush was non-existant last year and the defense as a whole suffered because of it. Mack would be the best defensive prospect in most classes if it weren't for Clowney.
7. TB: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M*
Maybe having Evans, a player often compared to Vincent Jackson, wouldn't make much sense if paired with Jackson. If not Evans, the Bucs would love to have Watkins as they clearly have a big hole with Mike Williams out of the picture.
8. MIN: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville*
Bridgewater falls a bit in my draft because there just hasn't been much positive information in the media coming out about him. On paper and on tape, he is my No. 1 prospect.
9. BUF: C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama
Mosley could have been a first round pick last year but decided to return to Alabama. If paired with Kiko Alonso in this defense, they'd have a fantastic duo that could challenge the 49ers for best ILBs in the league in a season or two.
10. DET: Ha'sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
Detroit signed SS James Ihedigbo away from Baltimore, yet they're still lacking at FS. The Lions' secondary has been an issue for years and Clinton-Dix could anchor this team for the next decade.
11. TEN: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Dennard has held strong in most positional rankings while others have fallen around him. The Titans' decision to not re-sign CB Alterraun Verner needs to be rectified.
12. NYG: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Matthews could certainly go higher with many of Top 10 teams requiring upgrades at offensive tackle.
13. STL: Calvin Pryor, FS, Louisville*
Pryor's hype seems to have leveled off; however, he keeps his first round grade and would bolster a Rams' secondary immediately.
14. CHI: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
The undersized Donald can terrorize offenses upfront with his quickness, burst and ability to collapse the pocket.
15. PIT: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina*
Although Heath Miller is productive when healthy, his durability concerns could be alleviated by the drafting of Ebron. The former UNC TE is an athletic specimen and the top prospect at his position.
16. BAL: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
The Ravens offensive line play has dramatically worsened since their Super Bowl season. Lewan can come in and provide stability where there currently is none.
