2013 NFL Mock Draft

Round 1 of 2

1. KC: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Joeckel was the rock in front of Johnny Football last season at Texas A&M and he is No. 1 on many draft boards. A quarterback was unlikely to go here in the first place, and now it certainly won't with Alex Smith in Kansas City.
2. JAX: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
Oregon's offense is what got all the accolades, and for good reason, but Jordan was a force on defense. He may be a bit of a project, but his upside is off the charts.
3. OAK: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Floyd's stock has been soaring, so don't be surprised if he goes this high. Oakland would do well to address its defensive line either in the middle of it or on the outside.
4. PHI: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Fisher is shooting up draft boards and could challenge Joeckel for the No. 1 overall pick. Star Lotulelei and Geno Smith are options here, but Fisher is a much safer play.
5. DET: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Ansah erupted for BYU last year, especially toward the end of it. The Lions need to improve at getting to the quarterback, and Ansah would be able to do just that--especially with Ndamukong Suh hogging attention in the middle of the line.
6. CLE: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Injury concerns notwithstanding, Milliner has established himself as the best in what is a solid cornerback class. Defensive end is also an option for the defense-starved Browns, especially if Milliner is gone.
7. ARI: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
He had one of the best names in college football, but Lotulelei can also play some ball. His heart issue appears to have checked out, which is the only reason why the Cardinals will pull the trigger because they can go in any number of directions with this pick.
8. BUF: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Smith's bid for the 2012 Heisman Trophy went south in a hurry, but he still projects extremely well to the next level. If Smith falls past No. 4, he won't drop below No. 8.
9. NYJ: Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU
Rex Ryan reportedly loves Mingo, who would play outside linebacker in New York. Defensive tackle is also a possibility here, because the Jets simply have to upgrade their front seven.
10. TEN: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
Look for Tennessee to start fixing one of its two lines in the first round. Warmack was part of Alabama's dominant offensive line and he is as high as No. 1 on some NFL Draft big boards. If Warmack is still available, that will help convince Tennessee to go the offensive route.
11. SD: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Lane Johnson may already be gone, in which case San Diego could address its offensive line with Jonathan Cooper. The bottom line is Philip Rivers needs some protection.
12. MIA: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State*
Rhodes has great size for a cornerback at 6'2'' and 217 pounds. After leaving FSU early, he has cemented himself as a virtual lock for the first round.
13. NYJ: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Cornerback is a possibility to replace Darrelle Revis, but Milliner and Rhodes may be off the board. Austin is too good to pass up in the middle stages of the first round.
14. CAR: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
Cam Newton could use another weapon on offense, but defensive tackle is also an issue. Richardson had 10.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in his last year at Missouri.
15. NO: Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia*
Once regarded as the top overall player in the class, Jones has seen his stock drop of late. His pro day at Georgia did not help, but he remains an enticing option for New Orleans.
16. STL: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Vaccaro played his way into first-round lock status by compiling more than 100 tackles last season for Texas. Austin will be the pick if he somehow falls all the way to No. 16.
