Golf Rankings for Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
Ben Crane [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #106
Since 2005, Crane has played Colonial seven times with three top-fives and five finishes inside the top 20. He’s recorded a pair of top-10s over his last five starts this season, but placed outside the top 45 in the other three.
Fredrik Jacobson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #47
Jacobson was a mediocre performer at Colonial three years running until skipping the event last year. He’s been reliable all season, though. Jacobson has made eight straight cuts while finishing outside of the top 25 just once and is currently fourth in scoring average.
Hunter Mahan [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #22
Mahan began the season with a string of solid results, but hit the skids in four straight events until rebounding with a T19 in THE PLAYERS. He’s made the cut three of the last four years at Colonial, recording a career-best T10 in 2011.
Bo Van Pelt [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #25
Van Pelt finished T10 at Colonial back in 2010 prior to a career-best solo third the following year. Last year, he left the site with a respectable T19 after struggling in the final two rounds. BVP showed some flashes of regaining his form with a T6 showing at Quail Hollow, but stumbled in THE PLAYERS with a T62.
Ryan Palmer [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #98
Palmer has played Colonial each of the last nine years and broke through with a T5 in last year’s event. He’s made five straight cuts this season, highlighted by a T5 in THE PLAYERS.
In last year’s Colonial debut, English finished T5 as a rookie and that remains his best finish on Tour to date. He’s coming off a T17 in the Byron Nelson and recently placed T6 at TPC Louisiana.
Tim Clark [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #53
Clark earned a share of second at Colonial in 2008 on the shorter layout and again the following year when it was extended by 150 yards. Last year he placed T19 at the site, but is coming off a missed cut in THE PLAYERS. Prior to that, Clark had finished T11 in the Masters and T24 at Harbour Town.
John Huh [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #88
Huh is coming off his best showing of the season, a T8 in last week’s Byron Nelson. Prior to that he missed six cuts in a span of 11 starts, but finished T11 in the Masters. Last year as a rookie, Huh finished T5 at Colonial.
Bae won last week’s event in the Byron Nelson, his first victory on the PGA Tour and second top-10 of the season. He played Colonial for the first time last year and finished solo 77nd.
Brendon de Jonge [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #73
Over his last six starts of the season, de Jonge has finished inside the top 25 four times. He’s made three straight cuts at Colonial, but has yet to record a top-40 finish.
Spieth has never played Colonial, but the 19 year old is worth a look thanks to three top-10s in 10 starts this season. He’s finished outside of the top 30 in his last two starts, but only because of poor play in the final two rounds.
Following a T4 at Quail Hollow, Karlsson got off to a quick start in the first round of the Byron Nelson until falling apart in the second round to miss the cut. Karlsson did not play Colonial last year, but owns a T5 from 2011.
