Golf Rankings for HP Byron Nelson Championship
Robert Garrigus [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #38
Capped by last year’s T9, Garrigus has finished 26th or better in four straight appearances in the Byron Nelson. After missing his first cut of the season, Garrigus had finished inside the top 40 in three straight events until THE PLAYERS.
Spieth is just 19 years old, but he’s already competed in the Byron Nelson twice. Spieth placed T16 in 2010 and T32 in 2011, but did not play this event last year. In nine starts, Spieth has three top-10s and three missed cuts.
Charles Howell III [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #56
Howell has been something of a roller coaster this season. His T10 at Quail Hollow gives CH3 five such results in 13 stroke play events, but he’s also missed two of his last four cuts. In the Byron Nelson, Howell recorded a T20 in 2011, but placed T41 last year.
Charley Hoffman [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #167
Hoffman heated up with a T3 and T6 to begin April, but has since missed one cut and placed T37 last week in THE PLAYERS. He missed two straight cuts in the Byron Nelson until last year’s T41. However, Hoffman played well in those first two rounds and entered the weekend inside the top 10.
Pat Perez [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #147
Perez finished a career-best T9 in last year’s Byron Nelson after a lackluster history in the event. Last week’s missed cut in THE PLAYERS snapped his streak of seven straight cuts made this season.
Rollins has missed three of his last four cuts, but also owns seven top-25s in 13 starts this season. Over the last two years, Rollins has finished T24 and T6 in the Byron Nelson.
Ben Crane [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #106
Crane is coming off a T8 in THE PLAYERS, his third finish of 11th or better in 11 starts this season. He’s also missed five cuts, however. Crane skipped the Byron Nelson last year.
John Senden [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #46
Back in 2009, Senden finished a career-best solo seventh in the Byron Nelson. He would miss the cut in 2010 and again in 2011 before skipping the event last year.
Since finishing as the runner-up in the Masters, Cabrera melted down over the weekend at Quail Hollow to finish 71st and is coming off a T55 in THE PLAYERS. Cabrera is playing the Byron Nelson for the first time.
In his most recent start, Karlsson finished a season-high T4 at Quail Hollow. However, he’s missed four cuts in seven starts this year and hasn’t played the Byron Nelson since 2007.
English is playing the Byron Nelson for the first time. He’s made six of his last seven cuts with a pair of top-10s.
Davis earned a share of second in the 2009 edition of the Byron Nelson, but missed two cuts prior to finishing T56 last year. He’s placed 32nd or better in five of his last six starts this season.
