Norv Turner's first task as Vikings' OC: Draw up plays for WR Cordarrelle Patterson

Everyone knew the Vikings needed to get explosive wideout Cordarrelle Patterson @ceeflashpee84 more involved as this season transpired. Everyone could see it. The kid was a big-play machine over the final month of the season, scoring six touchdowns in a variety of ways over the final five games. Still, Patterson had just one game all year in which he touched the ball more than six times. New Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner made sure to go about changing that head-scratching fact in a hurry.
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said Thursday that the first thing Turner did after he was hired last month was add 10 plays to the playbook made for Patterson.

Fantasy Analysis:

Although he's not a refined wide receiver yet, Patterson is a special talent. He became a threat in the running game with end-arounds, and it is absolutely game over if he gets an alley with no one in front of him. The Vikings' previous regime utterly failed to understand what they had in Patterson, and basically wasted him until December. Turner has always had a knack of getting the best of out his best players -- see: Josh Gordon last year -- so watching him work with Patterson should be fun.
While it would be silly to predict a Gordon-like season for Patterson in 2014, the sky is the limit for him once he really learns the art of being a receiver. Patterson's fantasy stock in all formats is pointing straight up, and he will be a very popular pick in drafts this summer. However, it's only February; I don't want to get too carried away with the Patterson buzz and end up overdrafting him.
Too late?
