Ben Tate understands that the NFL is a business. The Texans have their lead running back, Arian Foster , under contract through 2016, and Tate is about to become a highly sought-after free agent. He knows his time in Houston is up, and he said as much on both Facebook and Twitter on Monday.
"Cleaned out my locker going to miss the guys on this team," Tate wrote. "we have a lot of good ppl on this team and everyone was cool from the trainers to the equipment guys....always made it a good time while still getting work done. odds are I won't be back but being drafted here I learned a lot that I will carry on for the rest of my career. thank you Htown for all the support..."
Tate finishes four injury-plagued seasons in Houston, including a rookie year entirely wiped out by a broken right ankle. Yet, someone will try to make him a full-time starter this offseason. The Browns have been interested in him for months. His most productive season came in 2011 when he ran for 942 yards on 175 carries.
