Texans RB Arian Foster officially placed on injured reserve

This has been expected for a couple of days, and the Texans officially sent running back Arian Foster @ArianFoster to season-ending injured reserve Tuesday. He will undergo back surgery on Thursday, marking the end of a year in which he also battled hamstring, calf, and separate back injuries. Foster, who will turn 28 next August, is tentatively expected to be back for summer OTAs, but it all depends on how he recovers following the surgery.

Fantasy Analysis:

Ben Tate @BenTateRB is the Texans' lead running back and is an RB2. But since Tate is nursing four cracked ribs, Dennis Johnson is worth adding as his backup. It seems like Foster's huge workload from 2010-2012, during which he handled the football nearly 1,200 times, has caught up to him. Back surgeries can have long-term impacts, so Foster's keeper and dynasty values are very unstable right now. He will be an much-discussed, risky draft pick next year. We have seen his best days.
