Cardinals head coach reaffirms RB Rashard Mendenhall's starter status

Once again, Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians continues to tell the media running back Rashard Mendenhall @R_Mendenhall is the team's No. 1 back and RB Andre Ellington is not. In describing Ellington's 13 touches, Arians said "I think it's right where it needs to be. He had plenty again today." When asked about Mendenhall's lead role, Arians said, "Oh yeah. There's no doubt."

Fantasy Analysis:

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. I'm not sure if it's loyalty from their Pittsburgh days, but Arians is all-in with Mendenhall despite him averaging just 3.1 yards per carry and only playing in 26 of Arizona's 66 offensive snaps. Ellington has proven to be more explosive, a better pass-catcher and good enough in pass protection to hold his own. The future is very clearly will be lead by Ellington. Unfortunately, that time has yet to come.
