Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts has sprained shoulder joint, could play Sunday
Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts has been diagnosed with a sprained sternoclavicular joint. As the name describes, it's a joint between the sternum and the clavicle. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a similar injury last year and missed three games. However, head coach Gus Bradley said Shorts "could play" this Sunday versus the Chargers.
"He's sore now, so we'll know more in a couple of days," Bradley said of Shorts "The good news is the joint is stable."
So, we won't have a clear handle on this situation until Thursday or Friday. But given the type of injury, you should not expect Shorts to play. Justin Blackmon is dealing with a groin/hamstring injury, but he is expected to be active against the Chargers. He may see 20 targets again if Shorts is out.
