Miami WR Mike Wallace wants the ball

Miami Herald beat writer Barry Jackson pointed out that wide receiver Mike Wallace @Wallace17_daKid isn't seeing many looks, in particular deep balls. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill @ryantannehill1 has only connected on three of nine pass attempts of 20 yards or longer. Wallace only has one reception beyond 20 yards, a 34-yarder in Week 2. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman noted that defenses are giving Tannehill at lot of two-deep safety looks, effectively taking away the deep pass.

Fantasy Analysis:

Wallace's bread and butter has always been the deep ball and to an extent, the same can be said about Brian Hartline @brianhartline. Both guys are used to playing on the outside and running deeper routes. While it's all well and good to use a guy like Wallace to clear out certain areas for other guys to run routes underneath the coverage, eventually you have to chuck it deep to at least humor the outside receiver and keep defenses honest. The Dolphins look good and when you're good, you have to nitpick. This is a blessing for Miami that they can concern themselves about the frequency of deep balls, especially compared to a team like Tampa Bay who's making a headline per day about their head coach and quarterback drama. Wallace remains a decent WR2 with room to improve.

Alligator arms, breaking off routes...doesn't look to me like he 'wants' the ball. Biggest venue-Monday Night Football-Hometown crowd-old mate-if that didn't motivate him, I don't know what will.

This is not the right type of offense for his skill set, but he has to adjust to the team not the other way around.
