Chargers WR Malcom Floyd out for season
One of the amazing things about Philip Rivers' renaissance this season is that he's doing it with an aging Antonio Gates and a bunch of wide receivers who aren't exactly household names. And if Rivers wants to keep it up, he'll have to do so without Malcom Floyd. Floyd was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday due to the neck injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Eagles.
Floyd will turn 33 years old early next season. Considering all of the time he has missed in recent seasons -- by the end of this season, he will have missed 25 games since 2009 -- I don't think he will return to the Chargers as they are trying to get considerably younger at wide receiver. While Rivers moves up into the QB1 range, his most productive wideout, Eddie Royal , is a mere WR4 at best. Rivers, on pace for 44 touchdowns is a bit of a sell-high.
