Other final cuts: Robert Meachem, Alex Green, Jonathan Dwyer, Austin Collie, Russell Shepard

Saturday was one of the busiest days of the NFL calendar. It always is. It was the final day for each team to clip their roster down to 53 players. And also as always, numerous recognizable names were handed a pink slip. We already devoted posts to a few members of this unfortunate lot. In the interest of time, here is a bulk post including other known skill players released.
The Chargers got rid of wide receiver Robert Meachem after one season in his four-year, $25.9 million contract. There was a report last month that his body has "broken down." He caught 14 passes in 15 games last year.
Packers running back Alex Green couldn't make the squad even with DuJuan Harris being out for the year. He gained 464 yards on 135 carries in 2012 and was trying to become Green Bay's third-down back.
The Steelers will move forward with Isaac Redman @ired33, LaRod Stephens-Howling @LS_H36 and Felix Jones @felixjones28 as their top three running backs after they cut Jonathan Dwyer. The plodding running back led Pittsburgh with 623 yards last year.
Wide receiver Austin Collie's comeback to the NFL after playing in just one game last year ended when the 49ers cut him. And despite some early buzz in camp, the Eagles released rookie wide receiver Russell Shepard. Riley Cooper @RileyCooper_14 will be the Eagles' No. 2 WR.

Fantasy Analysis:

Quick hits on all of these situations:
Meachem wasn't going to be a factor on the Chargers, even with all of their WR injuries. What a disastrous signing.
Johnathan Franklin @JFrank2308 could be in the lead for the third-down job in Green Bay, but don't rule out John Kuhn. Either way, Eddie Lacy looks like a nice RB2 right now.
I find Dwyer's ouster surprising, not only because of the injury to Le'Veon Bell, but also because Stephens-Howling and Jones are not volume running backs; they are specialty players. It leaves Isaac Redman as basically the Steelers' only logical choice to start, and he should get the majority of the carries beford Bell returns from his sprained foot. With Dwyer gone, I think Redman is well worth a pick in the later rounds of a draft.
I feel bad for Collie, whose body has probably broken down, too. It didn't seem like he was close to making the Niners' roster.
The Eagles' WR corps behind DeSean Jackson -- Cooper, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson, Jeff Maehl -- can be ignored in fantasy drafts.
