Packers RB DuJuan Harris out for season with knee injury
Packers running back DuJuan Harris has practiced sparingly over the past three months, and now we know why. Harris has damage to a patellar tendon and needs surgery that will end his season before it starts. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that the team will put Harris on injured reserve. Harris said the tendon is not completely torn, but he wants to get it fixed now to keep it "from popping."
Torn patellar tendons are devastating injuries, so while this is too bad for Harris, it's probably the smart move with his NFL future in mind. With him out of the picture, rookie Johnathan Franklin has been given another opportunity to become Green Bay's main third-down back. Eddie Lacy has cemented his role as the team's early-down runner.
