Kendall Hunter looks 'sharp' against Vikings, secures 49ers' backup RB job

Three rushes for 13 yards doesn't sound like much. It isn't. But it's how Hunter, who suffered a season-ending Achilles injury last season, looked physically during in his preseason debut plays that matters. Apparently he looked "sharp" enough to reclaim his backup duties behind Frank Gore. "I just wanted to come back and show them that I'm back," Hunter said. "I'm ready to play and whenever they need me, they can count on me. I'm ready to prove it."

Fantasy Analysis:

Hunter averaged 5.2 yards per carry before his season ended. The former Oklahoma State product had the RB starter in waiting label during his first two seasons. Even though LaMichael James @LaMichaelJames remains in the mix, Hunter is the handcuff Gore owners should target. Non-Gore owners can him as well in the RB45-55 range.
