Ravens TE Ed Dickson will miss 'week or so' with hamstring strain
The Ravens' best option at tight end right now is probably Visanthe Shiancoe . Think about that.
That is a reality because tight end Ed Dickson will miss some time due to a hamstring strain that he suffered Sunday. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Dickson's MRI showed a "little tear," and Dickson is expected to be out of action for "a week or so." However, he should be 100 percent by the start of the regular season.
The Ravens are already thin as it is at tight end. Dickson is filling in for Dennis Pitta, who fractured and dislocated his right hip last week. He is out for the season.
No, I don't expect anything from Shiancoe. Dickson has taken over Pitta's old role as the "move" tight end, meaning he'll be the primary pass-catcher at that position. But I think there is a wide gap in talent between Pitta and Dickson. I would consider the latter a TE2.
