Redskins TE Fred Davis cleared for training camp

The Redskins are holding their first full-team walkthrough this morning, and tight end Fred Davis is on the field for it. He tore his left Achilles tendon in Week 7 last season. Today's development seemed likely after Davis said back in May that he was already cutting, running and doing drills at normal speed on his left foot.

Fantasy Analysis:

While Davis' rehab and recovery received minuscule coverage compared to Robert Griffin III, what Davis has done isn't small potatoes. Achilles tears are very tricky to come back from, and it might have sapped him of some of his athleticism -- we won't know until he starts playing in games. But he returned to full strength pretty quickly.
Davis is 27 years old and can be a mismatch with his size and speed. But don't forget that he and RGIII never really got a connection going when the two were on the field together last season. Davis caught 24 passes for 325 yards and didn't score in seven games. That has more to do with Davis being a mid-range TE2 than his injury.
