Jets QB Geno Smith: 'I've already made a giant leap'

Jets quarterback Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12 has quite the task in front of him this summer. He needs to transition from West Virginia's spread offense to a West Coast offense seamlessly as a rookie with the end result of possibly lining up as a starter in a few months for one of the worst teams in football. We won't get a good feel for how Smith's education has progressed until at least the preseason, but he is pretty pleased with how it has gone so far, if he may say so.
"I've already made a giant leap, coming from a spread system where the biggest transition for me is going to be the footwork. It's not as if I can't do it, it's the fact that I haven't done it enough," Smith said to NFL Network on Monday. "The good amount of reps that I got in a rookie camp, minicamp, OTAs has helped me make that leap and transition, and make giant strides. I was able to get in with the first team and do some really good things."

Fantasy Analysis:

Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez is the favorite for the starting job, but if he continues to play like, well, Mark Sanchez, the Jets will probably make the move to Geno sooner than later. In either case, the product is going to be unsightly. Fantasy owners should do everything within reason to avoid all Jets not named Chris Ivory.
